Nicholas single dad has very bad cancer, and hes going to die, soon. So, Nicholas offers himself up to be the guardian for his two teenage half-sisters. They already know not to put their heads in the oven. Whats the worst that can happen?

The family is stuck at home and desperate for something to do. Matilda is in a dark place, but a phone call cheers her up. Meanwhile, Genevieve gets caught trespassing, digitally.

Nicholas wishes he could call an adult! After the death of their father, Nicholas, Matilda and Genevieve struggle to return to their daily—and nightly—routines. Navigating the stay-at-home parent life is harder than Nicholas thought.

Genevieve decides to put herself out there and gets an unexpected result. Meanwhile, Drea and Matilda reunite, and Nicholas discovers the meaning of unconditional love.

Matilda and Drea plan to spend the night in the woods to prove their independence. Genevieve goes on her first date with Oscar, and it is mostly not awkward.

Much to the chagrin of the family, Matilda announces big plans. Suze has plans of her own and wants to rope in Nicholas for help.

Alex puts Nicholas in the naughty corner! Nicholas and Alex work through their relationship issues at home. Matilda and Genevieve find themselves confronting sexuality at school in very different ways. Genevieve is forced to grow up.

Matilda is inspired for her future! The family navigates New York City, teaching Matilda to ride the subway. Genevieve has a thing she wants to do. Its a big reveal. Nicholas starts to dream of a life with fewer responsibilities.

The Moss family gets ready for a big event, and nearly everyone has mixed feelings. Nicholas shares some eye-opening news with Alex.
